Jose Riveiro Expresses Deep Gratitude to Orlando Pirates Chairman Dr Irvin Khoza for Support During His Coaching Tenure in South Africa

After three eventful years at the helm of Orlando Pirates, Jose Riveiro is officially parting ways with the club.

But before closing this chapter, the Spanish coach made sure to share a heartfelt message of appreciation—especially directed at the man at the top, club chairman Dr. Irvin Khoza.

Respect and Transparency Defined Riveiro’s Time in Charge

Reflecting on his time in South Africa, Riveiro spoke warmly about the leadership he experienced at Orlando Pirates.

One thing that stood out to him was the mutual respect that shaped his relationship with the club’s top brass.

“It’s not even about saying the right thing—it’s just the truth,” he said, speaking to FARPost.

“From the beginning, I was fortunate to work with a group of people who were open, honest, and supportive.

Over the last three years, we built a relationship based on trust.”

A Chairman Who Cared Beyond the Contract

For Riveiro, the kindness and support shown by chairman Dr. Khoza wasn’t just professional—it felt personal.

“He truly cared about me—not just as a coach, but as a person.

The way he’s handled my departure shows his generosity and integrity,” Riveiro shared.

“He looked after me from the moment I arrived, and he’s still doing so now that I’m leaving.”

Leaving With a Full Heart

Riveiro made it clear that he’s walking away from the club with nothing but positive memories.

He’s grateful not just for the opportunities, but for the way he was treated every step of the way.

“I’ll always be thankful. It’s not something I’ll forget.

Feeling supported like this gives me peace of mind as I move forward,” he added, visibly emotional about the bond he formed with the club.
