Iyabo Ojo’s Stance on DNA Test Controversy
Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has expressed her disapproval of the public pressure on Omowunmi, the widow of late Nigerian singer Mohbad, to conduct a DNA test on their son to verify paternity.
Background on Controversy
The controversy began when self-proclaimed investigative journalist Kemi Olunloyo made claims suggesting that Mohbad’s son might belong to Lagos socialite Sam Larry.
Following these allegations, some Nigerians have urged Omowunmi to undergo a DNA test for their five-month-old son.
Support Offer for DNA Test
A Nigerian businessman, Larry Omodia, stepped forward and pledged to provide N10 million to support Mohbad’s widow in conducting a DNA test if she agreed to it.
Iyabo Ojo’s Response
Iyabo Ojo took to her Instagram page to voice her opinion on the matter. She expressed her concern that the calls for a DNA test were becoming a distraction from the pursuit of justice for the late Mohbad.
She emphasized that the public does not have the authority to demand a DNA test and pointed out that the late singer had never questioned the child’s paternity.
Appeal for Sensitivity
Iyabo Ojo appealed for sensitivity during this difficult time for Mohbad’s family and discouraged the bullying of Omowunmi.
She stressed that if the security officers investigating Mohbad’s death deem it necessary to conduct a DNA test, they will do so.
In essence, she called for respect and understanding in the midst of the mourning process.
