Indiana Couple Claims DoorDash Delivery Driver Sprays Food With Unknown Substance Causing Wife to Choke During Dinner

e clip also showed the driver taking a standard photo of the order, a common requirement for delivery apps to confirm the drop-off.

But immediately after, she allegedly used a small container in her hand to squirt a liquid onto the bag.

Potentially Dangerous Tampering

Cardin fears the substance could have been more than just a harmless spray.

“We assume it’s pepper spray, that’s more than likely what it is, but now in this day and age it could’ve been anything,” he explained.

“It could’ve been rat poison, it could’ve been fentanyl. I mean, my wife could’ve been dead.”

Reporting to DoorDash and Authorities

The couple immediately contacted DoorDash, which issued a refund, before notifying local law enforcement.

However, Cardin expressed frustration that he felt the delivery service wasn’t taking further action.

“I definitely want to see her prosecuted,” he said.

The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office confirmed an investigation is underway.

Under Indiana law, tampering with consumer products can be charged as a Level 6 felony, which escalates to Level 5 if the tampering results in harm.

No Motive, Just Fear

The Cardins say they had no prior connection with the driver and even tipped her when the delivery arrived.

“We live in a terrible world right now,” Cardin remarked.

“Horrific. People are mean for no reason. There was no reason to do what she done.”

Lessons Learned and Caution for Others

This unsettling incident has left Cardin questioning the safety of ordering food through delivery services.

He urges others to take precautions, particularly installing doorbell cameras to monitor deliveries.

“This is making me second guess ever ordering food from anywhere ever again,” he said.

Authorities and Companies Contacted

The Daily Mail has reached out to the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office, Cardin, Arby’s, and DoorDash for comment regarding the incident.
