India Commemoration 75th Anniversary In Abuja

Constitution has been described as a tool for the progress of the country governed by strong, independent democratic institutions.
The Deputy High Commissioner of India, Mr. VSDL Surendra, gave the description at a tripartite event in commemoration of India’s seventy fifth anniversary in Abuja.
He said there is a dire need for communal harmony to be preserved so that people of different religions, castes, creeds, sex and different background can live together in the society with love and peace amongst them.
According to him, many nations are weighed back by dictatorship hence the need for independence of the judiciary for entrenchment if values of justice, state policy and success.
Mr. Surendra, also called for taking inspiration from the life and teachings of Dr. Ambedkar to ensure that the constitutional rights are available to every citizen of the country.
The Deputy High Commissioner also called attention to the various provisions of the Constitution like the fundamental rights for the protection of minorities, which have contributed immensely to building communal harmony in India.
He thanked the Government and people of Nigeria for their humanitarian and friendly approach towards expatriates especially the Indian community.

similarity and differences between Indian and Nigerian Constitutions and recommended that both governments make provisions on rights in the Constitutions actionable so that their democracy will be stronger and better
