The armed forces play crucial roles in guaranteeing the sovereignty of the Nigerian nation
To this end, the annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration remains a wake-up call on the citizenry to appreciate the huge sacrifice made by service men and women by embracing peace and unity for national development.
The Ogun State governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun made the call at a special jumat marking this year’s armed forces remembrance day celebration held at the central mosque, Kobiti, Abeokuta this Friday.
Represented by his deputy, Engineer Noimot Salako-Oyedele, the governor noted that the fallen heroes and those wounded while upholding Nigeria’s noble cause must be remembered at all times .
Governor Abiodun therefore reassured the people of continued efforts of the current administration at improving the security architecture of the state as well as aiding the operations of security agencies.
In a welcome address,the commissioner for information and strategy, Alhaji Waheed Odusile described the armed forces day celebration as worthwhile given the immense sacrifice made by the nation’s fallen heroes.
He urged the citizens to always toe the path of peace and stand for the oneness of the country
In a sermon, the Mufasir of Egbaland, Sheik Taofeek Amolegbe commended the armed forces for their efforts at protecting the country against insurrections,adding that their peace-keeping missions in other African nations are indeed laudable.
Special prayers were offered for governor Dapo Abiodun, Ogun state and federal governments as well as members of the armed forces at the special jumat.
