Patricia Kambarami, a representative of the International Cricket Council (ICC), has praised Nigeria’s efforts in organizing the inaugural Nigeria Women’s T20i Cricket Invitational, which took place in Lagos recently.
Kambarami, who was present at the week-long invitational in Lagos as an ICC Regional Development Manager, praised the Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF) for the quality of planning and execution.
She also praised the five teams that competed, which were Ghana, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, The Gambia, and the hosts, Nigeria.

“All of the teams that competed did a fantastic job.” I must also mention that the tournament’s organization and quality are excellent. I could see that a lot of effort went into making this tournament what it was, and it’s fantastic to see how successful it was.”
Kambarami went on to say that it was inspiring to watch how hard countries like Ghana and The Gambia worked during the competition, which was hosted at the Tafawa Balewa Square cricket oval in Lagos.
“It just proves that they will continue to improve as they compete in other tournaments, such as the Kwibuka tournament in Rwanda, which is coming up shortly.”
“However, the enthusiasm on the faces of the onlookers was more significant to me.” The youngsters’ curiosity, participation, and passion were palpable, and it revealed a lot about how cricket has progressed in this country.
“I also anticipate this tournament improving in the future with more competitors,” Kambarami remarked.
The ICC representative was also impressed by the caliber of the Nigerian women’s squad that competed in the invitational.
“The Nigerian women’s squad has come a long way.
“I saw them in Zimbabwe in 2019, but what I’m seeing now is incredible, and I have to commend the NCF for their work with the team.” “You’ve done an incredible job,” she exclaimed.
The young players she has seen in the Nigerian team, Kambarami added, are a tribute to the federation’s grassroot development program’s progress.
“It’s fantastic to see the Nigerian side improving, and I’m quite impressed,” she continued.
