Housewife allegedly kills husband with pressing iron during argument in Lagos

In the Abule-Egba region of Lagos State, police have detained a housewife named as Motunrayo for reportedly killing her husband, Alaba Bakare, aka Bama. According to reports, the deceased, who owned a motel in Lagos’ Abule Egba neighborhood, had a violent disagreement with Motunrayo, who allegedly plugged a pressing iron and burned her husband’s chest. On January 14, the victim was claimed to have died as a result of his injuries.

However, there are two conflicting accounts of what led to the couple’s quarrel.

While some persons claim Motunrayo and the deceased had an argument after she found out he had impregnated another lady, others say Motunrayo during her interrogation with the police said she got into an argument with her husband over his refusal to sack a particular worker in his establishment.

“After the attack on Sunday, she said her husband and her younger brother left the house to relax at a bar before returning home later in the day.

When he returned, she said they gisted and went to sleep.She said she advised her husband to apply something on his chest, but he said she should not worry because it was a small thing and it would heal.

She later said that they were having fun the following day when her husband suddenly started gasping for breath. They wore clothes and rushed him to a hospital where he died on that same day.

She never said she drugged her husband.We also heard the story of her husband impregnating someone and it led to a quarrel between them. But an investigation is still ongoing.

”a police source said Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the state police command, CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu, said Motunrayo and three other suspects had been arrested in connection with the crime.

He added that the body of the deceased has been deposited in the Yaba Mainland Hospital’s morgue for an autopsy.
