When Holly Willoughby attended Glastonbury 2024, she expected an unforgettable night of music and festival fun.
What she didn’t expect, however, was to end the evening scrubbing a festival toilet.
The former This Morning presenter shared her hilarious and somewhat grim experience on The Graham Norton Show, where she appeared alongside music legend Sir Elton John.
The 43-year-old recounted how, after watching Elton’s headline set, she found herself caught in the dreaded festival toilet queues—an experience every festival-goer knows all too well.
A Disgusting Surprise in the Festival Loos
Holly was still buzzing from Elton’s performance, calling it “pure magic” and describing how the entire crowd moved as one, singing along to every song. But after the set, reality hit.
“After his set, everyone rushed to the toilets—it was chaos,” she explained.
“It was disgusting, but when you’ve got to go, you’ve got to go.”
When she finally got inside a cubicle, she was met with a horrifying sight.
“I was standing on the loo because you wouldn’t want to sit down,” she laughed. “And then I thought, ‘Oh my god, when I leave, the next person will think that mess was mine!’”
Determined not to be blamed for the disaster, Holly sprang into action.
“Luckily, I always have a bag of wet wipes with me, so I cleaned that toilet until it was spotless. It was perfect!” she added.
“Talk about coming back down to earth after Elton John!”
Elton John Reflects on His Iconic Performance
Meanwhile, Elton John, 77, shared his own thoughts on performing at Glastonbury for the first time as part of his farewell tour.
He admitted he had initially been hesitant about playing the festival but was overwhelmed by the love from the crowd.
“I had never been before, and honestly, I was resistant to playing in case I didn’t go down well,” he said.
“But it was one of the greatest days of my life.
I’ve never been happier—it confirmed that it couldn’t get any better.”
Holly’s Glastonbury Adventures and New TV Venture
Holly is no stranger to the Glastonbury scene.
She attended the festival in 2023 and shared glimpses of her experience on Instagram, including a snap of herself in a stylish white broderie anglaise dress and cowboy hat. That year, she even made headlines for skipping an episode of This Morning to enjoy the festival.
Now, she’s embarking on a brand-new adventure—one that’s worlds away from music festivals.
Holly is stepping into the wild with Celebrity Bear Hunt, a grueling survival series set in the Costa Rican jungle, where she joins Bear Grylls and a group of celebrities in extreme challenges.
“The magic of Bear is that he’s so convincing and inspirational—he even got me to do things, and I am the most scared person ever!” she admitted to Graham Norton.
The show features a star-studded lineup, including Spice Girls’ Mel B, Strictly Come Dancing’s Shirley Ballas, and The Saturdays’ Una Healy.
The competition is intense, with contestants facing grueling tasks and an elimination round where Grylls himself “hunts” the weakest competitor.
Holly Opens Up About Life After This Morning
Holly’s return to TV comes after a challenging period following her departure from This Morning in 2023.
She has spoken candidly about the adjustment to home life and reconnecting with her three children—Harry, Belle, and Chester.
“It’s been sh** for all of us,” she confessed, admitting that going from years of early-morning TV routines to everyday family life was a big shift.
For now, Holly is embracing new adventures, from music festivals to survival challenges, proving that she’s always ready for the unexpected—even if it means scrubbing a festival toilet.
