The participating teams for men include Egypt, Ghana (host), Kenya, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa (defending champions) and Uganda.

In the women’s competition are Ghana (host), Kenya, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa (defending champions), Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
