In Oyo State, armed men stormed one of the Nigeria Correctional Service’s (NCS) institutions. The gunmen assaulted the Abolongo jail institution at 10 p.m. on Friday, October 22. During the attack, the gunmen reportedly released all of the facility’s inmates.
To obtain entry and release detainees free, they allegedly used grenades.
The attack left the facility in shambles, with warders fleeing for their lives.
Other security agencies have been called in to assist Nigerian Correctional Service officers in hunting down the fleeing gunmen and apprehending the detainees.
