He cited a critical reason for his extensive journeys, emphasizing their role in sourcing financial and material assistance to address the pressing security and socioeconomic challenges faced by the state.
Restoring Confidence and Aid
In an interaction with reporters from Farin Wata TV station in Gusau, the state capital, Governor Lawal elaborated on the impact of his trips.
He pointed out that these travels have played a crucial role in rebuilding confidence among foreign and local partners who had previously withdrawn their aid due to concerns about widespread corruption among public officials.
Focus on Infrastructure Development
With renewed trust in the state government, Governor Lawal shared his plans to rejuvenate and develop significant educational and healthcare infrastructure throughout Zamfara State.
He highlighted the recent donations of medical equipment and medicaments from foreign agencies, aimed at revitalizing the healthcare sector that had suffered significant setbacks.
Addressing Security Challenges
Governor Lawal also addressed the persistent security challenges afflicting the state.
He emphasized that the Community Protection Guards recruited by the government are currently undergoing training by security agencies to enhance their effectiveness in safeguarding the community.
Additionally, these guards will be equipped and provided with the necessary resources to carry out their duties.
A Pledge to Combat Corruption
In his discussion, Governor Lawal expressed deep concern about the pervasive issue of public corruption in the state.
He vowed to take appropriate measures to minimize corruption by identifying and exposing those responsible. Furthermore, he asserted that efforts will be made to recover embezzled public funds, and strict penalties will be imposed on offenders.
A Warning to Public Officials
Governor Lawal concluded by cautioning public officials to abstain from all forms of corrupt practices or face removal from office.
His commitment to both transparency and accountability in governance was evident, underscoring his determination to address the state’s challenges head-on.
