The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) recently released a list of the running mates for the election, which revealed the new deputy for Governor Uzodimma.

Strategic Move and Political Balancing

According to political analysts interviewed by Daily Trust, the selection of a female deputy by the All Progressives Congress (APC) is seen as a strategic move to attract female voters in the state.

They believe that by choosing Ekemaru, who is from the same Mbaike block as the PDP candidate, the APC aims to counterbalance the growing influence of the opposition party in the upcoming election.

Compensation and Regional Representation

The analysts also suggest that the selection of Ekemaru serves as a form of compensation for the people of Ikeduru since she shares the same political block as the outgoing deputy, Placid Njoku.

This decision ensures regional representation and may help maintain support from the Ikeduru region in the election.

Conclusion:

Governor Uzodimma’s decision to replace his deputy with Mrs Ekemaru Chinyere Ihuoma ahead of the Imo State governorship election brings a new dynamic to the electoral race.
