Governor Godwin Obaseki pays verified pensioners in the state their pension for the month of June, reflecting the harmonized rate

Governor Godwin Obaseki has paid verified pensioners in the state their pension for the month of June at the harmonized rate in order to implement the harmonized pension that was announced on Workers’ Day.

In a statement, Secretary to the State Government, Osarodion Ogie said: “With the approval of the Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki for the harmonization of monthly pension, retirees with the state government who took part in the last verification exercise held across the state, have been paid their pension for the month of June, today, June 27, 2022, reflecting the harmonized rate.”

He added, “The payment of the harmonized pension to the verified retirees is in line with the government’s commitment to provide succour to pensioners, who are overburdened with the weight of the harsh economic realities in the country.”

On Workers Day, Governor Obaseki announced raising the state’s minimum wage from N30,000 to N40,000 and providing retirees in the state with a harmonized pension after 21 years of service.
