The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has debunked allegation that the State Government was tampering with the Local Governments Fund,
The governor said that instead, they are being assisted to enable them perform their constitutional roles.
Speaking at a meeting with the 20 Local Government Chairmen, Governor Abiodun said contrary to the insinuations, the allocations to the local governments are not enough and the state usually augument it to enable them pay staff salaries and execute developmental projects in their localities.
He acknowledged local government as the third tier of government whose Chairmen should be allowed free hands to run the affairs as they are close to the people and know the needs of the people at the grassroots.
Governor Abiodun maintained that since the local government administrators could feel the pulse of the people better than the State his administration would rely on them to achieve its objectives, as well as support them to fulfill their constitutional roles.
He urged them to embarked on projects that would have the greatest positive impacts on the people so that they will be appreciated at the end of their tenure
