The All Progressives Congress in Gombe State has concluded its State Congress with the affirmation of 36 Executive members.
The 36 executive members were elected through consensus by 712 out of the expected 784 delegates, who affirmed their support for the party’s choice of the executives.
Speaking before the commencement of the affirmation of the executives, the Chairman of the Gombe State Congress Committee, Dr.
Danjuma Dabo, said the six-member committee, came and successfully delivered its mandate.
He said the committee had throughout the night of Friday, October 15, screened and certified the eligibility of every candidate, as well as successfully held the congresses in the 114 wards, to the 11 local government areas and now the state congress.
Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya also congratulated the party for the successful conclusion of the process, which began with the 114 wards, to the 11 local government congresses and now to the State Congress, where the party had affirmed the 36 party executives.
He thanked every member of the APC for their support and cooperation right from the time his government was set up, to this point, where all the congresses were smoothly and successfully held in the state.
The Gombe State Governor said some of the Executive members were chosen to fill the space left behind by those who died or those whose ages were above the positions.
Above all, he said the party in the state had done the needful in fairness while calling on the elected executives to be loyal.
“This has been the charge to the entire executive at the ward and local government levels, that they should be loyal to the party by working for its progress.
The leaders are expected to lead by example, while the remaining members are expected to respect and obey the leaders,” Governor Yahaya.
He called on members of the party to continue to do the needful so that the state will have the needed development.
The APC Chairman of the Party, Mr.
Nite Amangal, thanked members and leaders of the party for the support, but cautioned party members, who are fond of going on air on radio to castigate the government or party, saying such actions will not be acceptable or tolerated.
Amangal also called on intending candidates and supporters to use words with wisdom, without necessarily defaming or abusing opponents, to avoid future embarrassments.
