Turns out, when it comes to golf, Donald Trump doesn’t just talk the talk—he’s actually got some serious skills on the course.
That’s according to Golf Channel analyst Brandel Chamblee, who recently played a full round with Trump and shared all the details, from impressive drives to… well, not-so-stellar putting.
Chamblee, who’s known for keeping it brutally honest in his golf commentary, didn’t hold back.
And yes, he said Trump smokes it off the tee.
Trump’s Driving Game? Surprisingly Impressive
While chatting with Skip Bayless during a recent appearance on Skip 1 on 1, Chamblee didn’t sugarcoat what it was like playing alongside the former president.
“President Trump smokes it. Hits it on a line,” he said, clearly impressed.
He even compared Trump’s swing to that of PGA Tour veteran Bruce Lietzke.
According to Chamblee, Trump absolutely “drives the eyes out of it” and regularly hits strong iron shots too.
Not bad for a 78-year-old who’s been juggling the golf course with his political comeback.
Around the Green? Well, There’s Room to Grow
While Trump may launch rockets off the tee, Chamblee did point out that his short game isn’t quite as sharp.
Chipping and putting? Not the best part of his skill set, he admitted.
But hey, every golfer has their weak spots, and it doesn’t sound like it slowed Trump down much—especially since he’s been known to play with some of the sport’s biggest names, including Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, and Bryson DeChambeau.
Trump the Golf Enthusiast and Charmer
One thing was clear to Chamblee: Trump genuinely loves the game.
During their round, Trump wasn’t just focused on his score—he made it a point to engage with everyone in the group, including their wives.
“He asked everybody questions and could speak in great detail about names and shots and golf,” Chamblee said.
Sounds like the president knows his stuff and loves talking about it too.
Of Course LIV Golf Came Up—And Trump Had Thoughts
Considering the recent drama around LIV Golf, it’s no surprise it became a hot topic during their time on the course.
Trump has hosted several LIV events at his courses, while Chamblee has been one of the league’s most outspoken critics.
But instead of avoiding the topic, Trump leaned right in.
“He said: ‘I know we disagree about LIV but let me just tell you why LIV is going to make it,’” Chamblee recalled.
Trump then brought up Yasir Al-Rumayyan—the man behind Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, which bankrolls LIV.
“Yasir loves golf more than you do and more than I do,” Trump apparently said.
“Now that’s hard to believe. But that’s what he said.”
A Golf Day to Remember
Politics aside, Chamblee made it clear that the day was memorable—for both the golf and the conversation.
Whether you’re Team PGA or intrigued by LIV’s rise, one thing’s certain: Trump’s not just a spectator when it comes to the sport.
He’s out there swinging hard, talking shop, and, according to Chamblee, holding his own on the fairway.
