Mikel Arteta has noticed a revitalized Gabriel Jesus after the striker made his mark in Arsenal’s 2-1 victory over Manchester United in Los Angeles.
Jesus, who scored in the first half, is clearly back to his best after a challenging season hampered by a knee injury.
Arteta pointed out that Jesus has regained his ‘spark,’ showing noticeable improvements in his performance and demeanor.
“You can see it’s a fact,” Arteta said, referring to Jesus’s enhanced rhythm and sharpness.
“The way he looks, the way he moves—there’s a new energy in his eyes.
He’s got something to prove, and that’s a positive.”
Summer Transformation
Arteta praised Jesus for his impressive summer transformation, highlighting that the striker returned in top condition. “He needed to be in this form to reach his best,” Arteta noted.
“He’s made significant changes over the summer and it’s evident. I’m thrilled with what he’s shown today.”
Inner Motivation
When asked if the pressure from calls for Arsenal to sign a new forward had pushed Jesus, Arteta emphasized that genuine motivation must come from within.
“His motivation should come from his own drive and self-improvement,” Arteta explained. “If he’s relying on external factors for motivation, it might not last.
Internal motivation, however, tends to be more enduring and consistent. I hope that’s what we’re seeing here.”
