Newly appointed Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Chairman Ola Olukoyede has assumed office and outlined his plans for the agency.
Olukoyede said his administration will focus on re-positioning and re-focusing the EFCC for optimal effectiveness. He also pledged to uphold the rule of law and professionalism in the discharge of the agency’s duties.
Olukoyede said the EFCC will place a greater emphasis on preventive strategies in fighting corruption. He said it is better to save money for the government than to spend money on prosecution.
The EFCC chairman also called for greater commitment to integrity, diligence, industry, and visionary drives from staff. He promised that staff will be treated according to their level of resourcefulness.
In his remarks, former Acting Chairman of the EFCC Abdulkareem Chukkol congratulated Olukoyede on his appointment and urged him to strive to preserve and strengthen the reforms and processes of the past few years.
