FreezeM Secures $14.2 Million in Series A Funding to Revolutionize Insect Farming

FreezeM, a company specializing in insect farming, has successfully raised $14.2 million in its Series A funding round.

This substantial investment was led by a consortium of industrial investors and the European Innovation Council Fund, alongside contributions from existing investors and partners.

Decoding Insect Farming with FreezeM

Founded in 2018 as a spin-off from the Weizmann Institute of Science by Yoav Politi, Idan Alyagor, and Yuval Gilad, FreezeM focuses on simplifying black soldier fly (BSF) reproduction to enhance protein yield.

The key to their innovative approach lies in the supply of their PauseM® product to BSF protein producers.

PauseM®: A Game-Changing Product

PauseM® stands out as a ready-to-use product that incorporates ‘paused’ BSF neonates with an impressive shelf-life of 14 days.

Notably, it boasts consistently high survival rates of over 90%.

This product is globally shipped to facilities, where it can be stored on-site and utilized flexibly based on production needs.

Accelerating Growth and Global Embedding

Dr. Yuval Gilad, a key figure in FreezeM, highlighted the transformative potential of the current funding round.

He emphasized that these funds would play a crucial role in enabling FreezeM to embed its technology on a global scale.

The company aims to accelerate the growth of its breeding hubs, particularly in Europe and Israel, paving the way for successful commercial expansion.

Charting the Future of Insect Protein Market

Dr. Yuval Gilad expressed confidence that FreezeM’s technology would liberate the insect market, allowing it to reach its full potential.

The funding secured is expected to be instrumental in propelling FreezeM towards global recognition and establishing its position as a key player in the evolving landscape of insect farming.
