Francis Obigwe Laid To Rest At Umueri Anambra East Council Area

The remains of a frontline educationist and former Commissioner in the Civil Service Commission, the Late Chief Francis Obigwe have been laid to rest at his country home in Umuatuolu Village, Umueri in Anambra East Local Government Area.

 

His burial followed immediately after a requiem mass held in his honour at Saint Mark’s Catholic Church Umueri, and officiated by the Auxiliary Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Jonas Benson Okoye.

 

The Late Chief Francis Obigwe, a devout Catholic, died at the age of Eighty-Seven and is the father of Anambra State Accountant General, Mr. Hilary Obigwe.

Governor Willie Obiano who attended the funeral asked the family to take heart on the transition of their father to the great beyond.

 

The Governor described the deceased as a famous educationist who has served the state in moulding future leaders from a classroom teacher, headmaster and retired as supervisor of schools.

 

Governor Obiano said that Late Obigwe was a known community leader and loving man, while praying God to admit his gentle soul into paradise and grants his family manifold grace.

Ealier in his homily, Bishop Okoye, reminded the church of the inevitability of death for all mortals and stated that the deceased was a Christian of the Catholic faith who lived an exemplary life worth emulating.

 

He urged the children to emulate the footsteps of their late father and pray God to grant the deceased eternal rest.

The children of the deceased, Mr Hilary Obigwe and Mrs Ukamaka Ifediora described him as the best dad someone could ask for as he was known for his humility and hard work.

 

An in-law to the family and Judge  of the State high court, Justice Chukwudi Okaa, described his in-law as a disciplinarian and prayed for his eternal repose.

The State Head of Service Mr Harry Uduh, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Awka Capital Territory Development Authority, Venerable Amaechi Okwuosa and Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the  Anambra Broadcasting Service, Dr Uche Nworah were also in attendance.
