The former RAF chef shared with staff at her care home that a combination of “good sex and good sherry” has been key to her satisfaction and happiness.

Joyce celebrated her birthday in the company of surprised staff who presented her with a cake, while her family visited to share in the joyous occasion.

Reflecting on her milestone, Joyce exclaimed, “I had such a lovely day. I can’t believe I’m 102 – it must be all the chocolate I eat that’s helped!”

During her early years, Joyce worked in a sweet shop before joining the RAF as a chef during World War Two.

In 1945, the year the war ended, Joyce married her childhood sweetheart, Terence Jackman.

Though they didn’t have children of their own, Joyce found joy in looking after the children in her neighborhood, indulging in baking with her mother, and spending time with friends.
