On Sunday, Oby Ezekwesili, a former Nigerian Minister of Education, emphasized the importance of churches and individuals taking “violence Against Women” seriously.

She made this tearful appeal in response to the loss of gospel artist Osinachi Nwachukwu, who died at the age of 42 on Friday, April 8, 2022.
Tributes to the late gospel singer have continued to stream in. Nwachukwu collaborated with another musician, Prospa Ochimana, on the song Ekwueme, which catapulted both of them into the spotlight in 2017.
While some reports in some quarters that she died of throat cancer and had been on life support for about two months. There were unverified allegations that the deceased had issues with her marriage.

Ezekwesili reacting to the development, said every individual, including the churches, must act to tackle the menace of violence against women.
Ezekwesili in series of tweets on her Twitter handle, have described gender-based violence as an epidemic in Nigeria, Africa, and the world at large.
“The death of Osinachi Nwachukwu of the epic Ekwueme worship song really hit hard. To read allegations of spousal abuse worsens the pain. I hope the truth is unearth and justice given”, Ezekwesili wrote.
