Florida Woman Sentenced to Life in Prison for Murdering Her Husband and Trying to Frame Her Seven-Year-Old Daughter in Claremont

A woman from Florida has been handed a life sentence for the murder of her husband, after a shocking attempt to blame her own young daughter for the crime.

Laurie Shaver, who was found guilty of killing her husband, Michael Shaver, and concealing his body under a concrete slab, was sentenced on Tuesday.

The crime occurred in Claremont, just west of Orlando, back in 2015.

A Cold Trial and Heartbreaking Lies

During her trial, Laurie remained emotionless as the judge delivered the sentence.

Shaver had taken the stand and told a disturbing story about her husband’s supposed abuse, even going as far as to claim that her daughter, Isabelle, then just seven years old, was the one who shot Michael.

Prosecutors, however, painted a different picture of the events, stating that Laurie shot her husband in the back of the head in November 2015, before hiding his body in the yard under a firepit.

The Chilling Discovery and Deception

Michael’s body went undiscovered for several years, with authorities only finding his remains in 2018.

This came after a wellness check was performed on the missing Walt Disney World employee.

Authorities also revealed that Laurie had gone to extreme lengths to cover her tracks, taking over Michael’s identity to send text and Facebook messages, pretending to be him after his death.

The Daughter’s Testimony and the Jury’s Decision

The emotional testimony from Laurie’s daughter, now 15, added another layer of complexity to the case.

She told the court that she shot her father in an attempt to protect her mother, describing a scene in which she grabbed her mother’s gun to defend her as Michael allegedly attacked her.

However, the jury didn’t find her defense convincing, and the tragic truth prevailed.

Michael’s Family Finds Justice After Years of Waiting

In the wake of the verdict, Michael’s family expressed their relief and joy after nearly a decade of seeking justice.

Michael’s sister, Stacie Turner, spoke to the press, sharing the emotional weight of the moment.

“Elation. Elation,” she said.

“We were very happy. This was a long time coming.”

The guilty verdict brought a sense of closure, though the grief and pain of losing Michael remained with them.
