Five killed after bakkie overturned on N2 in Eastern Cape

Five individuals were killed when their bakkie overturned on the N2 near Betshwana in Mount Ayliff, Eastern Cape. The accident occurred early on Monday.

According to Unathi Bhinqose, a spokeswoman for the province Transport Department, the driver of the bakkie lost control of the vehicle before it flipped.

The collision injured one individual, who was brought to the hospital.

Binqose says there were six people in the bakkie.  “Yes, we can confirm that sadly five people have lost their lives in that accident which happened on the N2 between Kokstad and EMaxesibeni. The accident happened around six o’clock in the morning when a bakkie with six occupants lost its control and overturned killing five people on impact including the driver. We wish to urge our people to be always extra cautious on the roads to avoid accidents like this one.”
