Five kidnap victims rescued from Zamfara forest

The police have rescued five abduction victims from the Kunchin Kalgo Forest in Zamfara state.
On Tuesday, February 8, Mohammed Shehu, a spokesman for the Zamfara police command, claimed they were rescued on January 27 and February 3, 2022, following a search and rescue operation by security personnel at Kunchin Kalgo forest in the state’s Tsafe Local Government Area.
Four of the victims are from Kebbi State’s Zuru Local Government Area, but were taken along the Yankara – Tsafe road, while the other was abducted in Niger State’s Kontagora Local Government Area.
The victims spent eleven days in the hands of their captors.
Shehu said;  “All the victims were rescued unconditionally during an extensive search and rescue operations conducted at Kunchin Kalgo forest in Tsafe LGA.
The rescued victims have undergone medical treatment and have been debriefed by the Police.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Ayuba Elkanah sympathises with the victims for the suffering they passed through within the period they spent in captivity.
The police spokesperson assured residents of the state that police in collaboration with other security agencies and state government will continue to work to ensure the unconditional rescue of all kidnapped victims across the state.
