Five essential Valentine’s Day Songs [Video]

On Monday, February 14th, it’s Valentine’s Day, which means you’re either planning a surprise for someone important or treating yourself.
You’ll need a playlist full of love songs no matter what your plans are for the day.
Sometimes all you need is the ideal playlist to express your entire range of emotions. Here are five Valentine’s Day tunes to add to your playlist.
1. JOHN LEGEND – ‘ALL OF ME’
John Legend’s All of Me is a Valentine’s Day essential. The song is from his 2013 album Love in the Future. The Grammy award-winning artist wrote this beautiful love song for his wife Chrissy Teigan.
The All of Me music video was shot in Italy just days before the couple’s wedding. The video ends with visuals from the stunning affair.

Iris is one of the Goo Goo Dolls’ most-famous songs. The song, originally released in 1998, was written for Nicolas Cage’s character in City of Angels.
“This guy is completely willing to give up his own immortality, just to be able to feel something very human. And I think, ‘Wow! What an amazing thing it must be to love someone so much that you give up everything to be with them,’” explained John Rzeznik, the band’s frontman.

Bringing it home, singer-songwriter Vusi Nova (who goes by S’nova now) took Mzansi by storm with his love song Ndikuthanile. The song forms part of his 2016 album Naninina.
A passionate Vusi Nova sings passionately in Xhosa to his significant other. The song is one of his most famous songs.

What is a playlist without amapiano? Amapiano producer Mas Musiq and vocalist Nia Pearl released their heartfelt single, Wami in 2020. The song was part of his album, Mambisa II.
In the song, Pearl sings “Mina na ngyaz felah Ngibonga wena,” which translates from Zulu into “My darling I am in love. I thank you for opening my eyes.”

Mr Certified Lover Boy aka Drake is great at hip-hop love songs. The Canadian rap star serenaded the world with his single Best I Ever Had in 2010.
Drake pours out his heart on this one!
“Baby, you my everything, you all I ever wanted. We could do it real big, bigger than you ever done it,” raps Drake.
