Fawaaz Basadien Breaks Silence on Kaizer Chiefs Transfer Talk, Emphasizing His Dedication to Stellenbosch FC for the Upcoming Season

Fawaaz Basadien, the defender for Stellenbosch FC and Bafana Bafana, has finally addressed the buzz surrounding his potential move to Kaizer Chiefs.

Recently, reports suggested that Basadien had expressed interest in joining Chiefs, prompting a reaction from Stellenbosch’s management and coach Steve Barker.

However, Stellenbosch turned down Basadien’s request, emphasizing their need for him throughout the current season.

With this development, Chiefs have shifted their attention to Bradley Cross, reportedly ready to pay R3 million for him.

If the deal goes through, Cross would become the third left-back at Chiefs, joining Bongani Sam and Rushwin Dortley.

Basadien’s Response to the Chiefs Interest

In a recent media statement, Basadien shared his thoughts on the speculation. He emphasized that his focus remains on his current role at Stellenbosch.

“I control what I can control,” Basadien said.

“I’m contracted to Stellenbosch, so my job is to perform well for them.

I’m not concerned with what’s happening in the media.”

Basadien acknowledged the interest from Chiefs as flattering but reiterated his commitment to Stellenbosch.

“It’s great to have a club like Chiefs interested in you, but right now, my focus is solely on doing my best for Stellenbosch,” he added.

Kaizer Chiefs’ Potential Deal with Bradley Cross

In other news, Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly close to securing Bradley Cross from Golden Arrows for R3 million.

According to SABC Sport, the deal has progressed after both clubs agreed to terms and Chiefs triggered Cross’ buyout clause.

Cross, known for his versatility as a defender, has impressed in the PSL, first with Maritzburg United and recently with Arrows.

His performances have even caught the attention of Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos.

A move to Chiefs could potentially boost his chances of making a bigger impact on the national team.

Despite the competition at Chiefs with two other left-backs already in place, Cross’s ability to also play as a left centre-back might give him an edge.
