Ex-Orlando Pirates ‘keeper Mabokgwane trains with struggling PSL club!

According to FarPost, Mabokgwane has been training with Baroka for the past two weeks in an attempt to earn a professional contract.

However, Baroka are bottom of the log with five games to go, and they could find themselves relegated if they don’t improve.

Should they get relegated, Mabokgwane is likely to look elsewhere ahead of the 2022-23 season, especially given his experience and hunger to continue playing at the highest level.

Baroka coach Kgoloko Thobejane dismissed suggestions that Mabokgwane could be signed now, saying the former Pirates keeper is just there to train with the team.

But Thobejane didn’t completely rule out the possibility of entertaining the idea of acquiring the services of Mabokgwane.

As things stand, Baroka have only two experienced goalkeepers in Oscarine Masuluke and Elvis Chipezeze who have been rotating the No.1 shirt this season.

“No, he is just here training with us. It’s not a thing of maybe we can try to sign him now. Maybe if things happen, we will see,” Thobejane told the media as per FarPost.

“It’s good (to have him around), it’s good. As you can see now, he was talking to Oscarine (Masuluke) to show some of the things that we used to support and coach them every day.

“Most of the players are afraid; they are afraid. The keeper is the first attacker of the team. If he can’t play or is always afraid of kicking the balls forward, it’s a problem,” he said.
