Evan Rachel Wood documentary on Marilyn Manson abuse hits Showmax

In a lengthy Instagram post in February 2021, Evan Rachel Wood claimed Marilyn Manson started grooming her when she was a teenager and abused her for years.

“I was brainwashed and manipulated into submission. I am done living in fear of retaliation, slander or blackmail. I am here to expose this dangerous man and call out the many industries that have enabled him before he ruins any more lives,” wrote the Westworld actress.

Manson denied Wood’s claims and called them “horrible distortions of reality”.

‘PHOENIX RISING’

Produced and directed by Oscar-nominated filmmaker Amy Berg, Phoenix Rising sees Evan Rachel Wood telling her story about how she met Manson and details their whirlwind relationship.

The documentary has received a 97% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and critics praised it saying: “Evan Rachel Wood is fearless in Phoenix Rising, a harrowing exposé on abuse, tabloid complicity and the long process of healing.”

Phoenix Rising was officially released on 15 March and is now available to stream on Showmax.
