On February 16, the European Parliament debated the EU’s relations with Russia.
One of the key subjects discussed during the meeting, as expected, was Russia’s military threat to Ukraine.
The majority of MEPs expressed their condolences to Ukraine. Some of them chanted the Ukrainian nationalist rallying cry, “Glory to Ukraine!”
They were caught off guard by the representative of Latvia, Tatyana Zhdanok’s, remarks.
Zhdanok was outraged that Nazi collaborator Stepan Bandera’s chants could be shouted from the European Parliament’s rostrum.
She also questioned the topic of the discussion — Russia’s military threat to Ukraine — by saying that even Ukrainian politicians start denying this threat.
