Eskom schedules power outages in Vosloorus and Soweto for planned maintenance across Gauteng

Residents in parts of Gauteng are preparing for a scheduled power outage as Eskom conducts essential maintenance work on its distribution network.

The power utility announced that the interruptions will take place on Tuesday, January 28, impacting certain areas for up to nine hours.

Vosloorus Residents to Experience Power Disruption

Eskom confirmed that the planned maintenance would affect specific areas in Vosloorus, including extensions 14, 25, and 28.

The electricity supply will be interrupted from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

The company explained that this maintenance is crucial to ensure the reliability and safety of its power lines.

In a statement, Eskom said, “The power outage is necessary to perform essential maintenance on our distribution network.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused and urge residents to remain patient as we work to improve the service.”

Soweto Residents Also Affected

In addition to Vosloorus, Soweto residents in areas such as Jabulani, Mofolo North (Sgodiphola), and Zondi will face similar power interruptions on Tuesday, January 21.

The timing and purpose remain consistent, with outages scheduled from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM for maintenance on power lines.

Eskom emphasized that the maintenance work is part of an ongoing effort to enhance the reliability of electricity supply in these communities.

Safety Reminder During Power Outages

Eskom urged all customers to treat electrical appliances as live during the power outages.

This precaution is crucial to prevent accidents when the electricity supply resumes.

The company also noted that unforeseen circumstances might delay or alter the planned maintenance schedule.

“Should circumstances beyond our control arise, the planned electricity maintenance may not proceed as communicated,” Eskom added.
