Additional Maintenance in Hammarsdale

In another part of KwaZulu-Natal, Eskom will be carrying out maintenance work that will cause power interruptions over the next few weekends.

The eThekwini Municipality has confirmed the schedule for these outages, which will affect the Mpumalanga Substation and its surrounding areas:

  • January 25th to 27th
  • February 1st to 3rd
  • February 15th to 17th

During these periods, power outages will occur daily from 5:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

The maintenance is being done to refurbish electrical infrastructure at the Georgedale Substation, which powers the Mpumalanga Substation.

According to the eThekwini Municipality, the interruption is necessary to carry out the work safely and improve the reliability of the local electrical supply.

This will eventually lead to a better quality of electricity for the region.
