The Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare, says a child’s talent can be discovered, nurtured and made exceptional, over time through an environment that spurs consistency.

The Minister stated this ahead of the National Youth Games to be held in Ilorin as he analysed the achievements of some athletes including Deborah Okereke aged sixteen who had won a silver medal in the National Youth Games and is expected to come out in flying colours as she represents Bayelsa state in this year’s edition of the National Youth Games billed to commence in the next few days.

According to to the Minister, another athlete to watch out for is Isaac Okereke, also aged sixteen, who is currently the African Junior champion in chess, having won a medal at a tournament in Ghana, earlier in the year.

Both players are representing Bayelsa and Ogun States in chess respectively and it is believed that more talents will be discovered at the youth games commencing in within the next three days.
