Elon Musk has long been known for his bold business moves, and now it seems he may be eyeing a major acquisition in the world of sports.
Rumors have been circulating for some time about Musk’s potential interest in purchasing Liverpool FC, and his father, Errol Musk, has now confirmed that these rumors might hold some truth.
A Family Connection to Liverpool
In an interview, when asked if Musk was looking to buy the famous football club, Errol Musk had a playful response.
He first laughed and said, “I can’t comment on that.
They’ll raise the price,” before admitting that his son had expressed interest in making the purchase.
While he didn’t say the deal was set in stone, Errol Musk confirmed that Elon had indeed shown a desire to buy Liverpool FC from its current owners, Fenway Sports Group (FSG).
Why Liverpool?
Elon Musk’s potential interest in the club may not just be about business.
As Errol Musk shared, the family has a deep connection to the city of Liverpool.
“His grandmother was born in Liverpool, and we have relatives in Liverpool,” he explained.
The Musk family has long ties to the city, with Errol also mentioning that they were fortunate enough to know many members of The Beatles, who grew up near his relatives.
This emotional connection could be one of the driving forces behind Elon’s interest in the club, beyond the potential for a lucrative investment.
