Edo State Primary Health Care Development Agency (EDSPHCDA) appeals to stakeholders ahead of COVID-19 vaccine second dosage

In order to enhance the adoption of the second dosage of the COVID-19 vaccine and provide citizens with the most possible protection against coronavirus, the Edo State Primary Health Care Development Agency (EDSPHCDA) has appealed to stakeholders.

In an urgent meeting with the agency’s Disease Control and Immunization Department, the Executive Secretary of the EDSPHCDA, Dr. Eloghosa Obarisiagbon, made the request to find means to assure the maximum level of coronavirus protection for the Edo people.

The second injection of the Covid-19 vaccine, according to Eloghosa, will not only strengthen the immune system but also give long-lasting immunity.

The first dosage of the vaccine, she explained, primes the immune system, warns it of the virus’ presence in the body, and induces an antibody response.

The second dose, she continued, serves as a booster to ensure immunity is long-lasting.

In order for everyone who received the first dose of the vaccine to travel to the closest Primary Healthcare Center closer to them to receive their second doses, the Executive Secretary urged that proper information regarding the need for the second dose of the covid-19 vaccination be duly passed across Local Government Areas.

She asserts that stakeholders must take the necessary action in terms of behavioral modification and appropriate information so that people can alter their attitudes and resistance to obtaining the second dose of Covid -19 vaccine.

She claimed that the state’s Covid-19 vaccination rate has improved, reaching five percent (5%) of residents who are fully immunized and nine percent (9%) who are only partially immunized.
