Ebem Ohafia community leadership enforces sweeping ban on hard drugs cultism and violent crime to restore peace across Ohafia Local Government Area in Abia State Nigeria

Determined to reclaim calm and safety in everyday life, leaders and youth groups in Ebem Ohafia have taken a firm stand against activities they believe are threatening the community’s wellbeing.

The move signals a renewed push to restore order and send a strong message that crime and disorder will no longer be tolerated.

Total Ban on Hard Drugs, Cultism, and Violence

At the heart of the decision is a sweeping ban on hard drugs, cult-related activities, violence, and other criminal acts within Ebem Ohafia, located in Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State.

The directive covers the consumption, sale, trafficking, and use of illicit substances, with clear warnings that offenders will face stiff fines and disciplinary action, regardless of their social status.

Youths, Leaders, and Traditional Rulers Speak With One Voice

The announcement came through a joint effort involving Ebem Ohafia youths, the Central Executive Council of the Ebem Ohafia Development Union, and the Council of Chiefs and Elders.

According to a statement released on Tuesday by the community’s Publicity Secretary, Mr. Ifeanyi Okali, the initiative has the full backing of all major leadership structures in the area.

Final Warning Issued to Cult Groups and Criminal Elements

Community leaders did not mince words when addressing cultism.

Individuals involved have been given a final opportunity to renounce such activities or face severe community sanctions and possible prosecution.

Criminal elements using Ebem Ohafia as a hideout have also been ordered to leave immediately, with a warning that any indigene found sheltering them will be held responsible.

Weapons, Gunshots, and Street Fights Outlawed

To further tighten security, the community has banned fighting with weapons, the display of firearms, and the discharge of gunshots.

Anyone caught violating this rule risks being handed over to security agencies, paying heavy fines, and facing additional community penalties.

Families and Compounds Held Accountable

Responsibility for maintaining discipline will also extend to Ndi Ikwu, or family compounds.

These units will be held accountable for offenders within their areas, and sanctions may include suspension from hosting ceremonies or other communal activities if defaulters are not properly addressed.

Traders Warned Over Market and Road Obstructions

The new rules also affect traders, particularly those operating along Ebem Police Station/Court Road and within the Ebem Daily Market.

Sellers have been cautioned against blocking gutters, walkways, and designated free zones.

Any violation will result in the immediate seizure of goods.

Zero Tolerance as Enforcement Begins

Wrapping up the announcement, Mr. Okali emphasized that compliance is not optional.

Residents and visitors alike have been urged to obey the new directives, with a clear warning that enforcement will be strict and uncompromising as the community moves to safeguard peace and order.
