Eagles Forward Onuachu Set To Miss AFCON 2021

Super Eagles interim technical adviser Austin Eguavoen would has been dealt with selection problem.

Eguavoen who was announced as interim manager is yet to release his provisional squad list ahead of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

With some key players like Victor Osimhen, Oghenekaro Etebo in doubt to be part of the Super Eagles team, the team has been hit with another injury setback with Paul Onuachu set to miss the tournament.

Onuachu could miss the AFCON after he sustained a hamstring injury in Genk’s 1-1 home draw against Royal Antwerp on Sunday.

Onuachu who scored Genk goal in the game was later substituted from the game following the injury.

The 27-year-old was replaced by Ike Ugbo 20 minutes from time after picking up the injury.

The former Midtjylland forward is expected to be sidelined from action which means he would not be able to play in the competition.

Eguavoen is expected to release his provisional squad list later this week.

The Super Eagles will begin their campaign in Cameroon against the Pharaohs of Egypt on January 11.
