Drake Urges California Governor to Pardon Tory Lanez After Brutal Prison Stabbing at California Correctional Institution

It’s a stark reminder of how harsh prison life can be, even for high-profile celebrities.

Tory Lanez, the Canadian rapper, recently survived a brutal stabbing inside a California prison, an attack that left him fighting for his life.

This violent incident has not only shocked fans but also reopened discussions about his legal battles and the safety of incarcerated celebrities.

Drake Steps Up to Support His Fellow Canadian

Drake didn’t waste any time showing his solidarity. On May 16, he posted a simple but powerful message on Instagram saying, “@torylanez come home soon.”

But he went further by sharing a Change.org petition urging California Governor Gavin Newsom to pardon Tory Lanez.

This petition, which has quickly gained attention online, claims that Lanez’s 10-year sentence is a “deep injustice,” referring back to his 2020 conviction for shooting Megan Thee Stallion.

What Happened During the Stabbing Incident

The attack occurred on May 12 at the California Correctional Institution, where Lanez—whose real name is Daystar Peterson—was stabbed 14 times.

The wounds were severe: seven in his back, four in his torso, two in the back of his head, and one in his face.

Both of his lungs collapsed, leading to an emergency rush to a hospital in Bakersfield.

At one point, Tory was on a breathing machine, but thankfully, he has since regained the ability to breathe and speak on his own.

Tory Lanez’s Team Shares a Message of Hope

Despite the traumatic experience, Tory’s team has been optimistic.

They released a statement saying, “Though he is in pain, he is speaking normally, staying positive, and very thankful to God for his recovery.”

His lawyer, Jose Baez, echoed this hopeful tone: “Tory is in good spirits and recovering well. He’s a strong young man, and we expect a full recovery.”

A Friendship That Has Weathered Storms

Drake’s public support isn’t new; the two Canadian artists have a history that’s seen its ups and downs.

Back in 2017, they ended their feud when Lanez joined Drake on stage at OVO Fest, performing “Controlla” together—a moment that marked their renewed friendship.

Just last December, during his ‘Drizzmas Giveaway’ livestream, Drake gave a nod to Lanez with a heartfelt shout-out.

The Debate Over Lanez’s Sentence Continues

The stabbing has intensified debates around Tory Lanez’s legal situation.

With Drake amplifying calls for clemency and the investigation still ongoing, the public and legal systems face mounting pressure.

Drake’s simple plea, “@torylanez come home soon,” carries a weight that many hope will lead to justice and eventual freedom for Lanez.
