At the ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) Summit, the South African delegation will be led by Dr. Naledi Pandor, Minister of International Relations and Cooperation.

The Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) has scheduled negotiations to take place in Tunis, Tunisia, on August 27 and 28, 2022.

The African Union Commission, the World Bank, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), and the Japanese government are all involved in organising the summit (AUC).

According to the department, “The 8th TICAD Summit will showcase the close ties between Japan and Africa and lay out a pathway for African development, looking ahead to the post-pandemic future.”

The plenary sessions and the Japan-Africa Business Forum will be included.

The economy, society, peace, and stability will also be covered at the plenary sessions.

The gathering will be attended by the leaders of Africa, the Japanese government, and members of the business community including the Japan Business Federation and Japan Association of Corporate Executives.

The awarding of the Hideyo Noguchi Africa Prize will also be included in the programme.

The statement read, “The main goal of the award is to recognise individuals and organisations that have made outstanding contributions to medical research and services to combat infectious and other diseases in Africa, thereby promoting the health and welfare of the African people and of all humanity.”

The Government of Japan established TICAD in 1993 with the goal of advancing African development, stability, and security through the establishment of multilateral partnerships and collaboration.
