Steven Bartlett, the Diary Of A CEO podcaster and business mogul, is giving fans a rare glimpse into his private life.
After keeping his romance largely out of the spotlight, Steven recently shared intimate details about his engagement to fiancée Melanie Lopes, the French-Portuguese yoga entrepreneur he’s been with for seven years.
The couple’s engagement, which happened on Christmas Day in Morocco, was first reported by the Daily Mail earlier this week.
Steven, 33, spoke candidly about the proposal during Maggie Sellers Reum’s Hot Smart Rich podcast, revealing just how deeply he admires Melanie.
“She knows me better than anyone,” Steven said.
“She sees everything, and when she speaks, I listen. She’s very special. In many ways, she’s everything I’m not.
She’s like an angel who fell from the sky. She’s what I aspire to be.”
A Love That Withstood Time and Distance
Steven and Melanie first connected on Instagram back in 2016.
Despite their careers being closely tied to social media, the couple has intentionally kept their relationship private.
Before their engagement, the couple faced their share of challenges.
Steven, who is also a star on Dragons’ Den and has an estimated net worth of £320 million, dated Melanie for a year before they briefly split so he could focus on building his business empire.
Realizing he couldn’t live without her, Steven flew 22 hours to Bali, where Melanie runs a yoga and breathwork retreat, to win her back. Since then, their relationship has flourished.
During their festive trip to Morocco, Steven proposed with a diamond engagement ring, and Melanie happily said “yes.”
Sources close to the couple confirm that after living together in London and Los Angeles while balancing demanding careers, they’ve never been happier and are excited to start planning their wedding.
The Thought Behind the Ring
Steven shared that the engagement ring had been years in the making.
“About four years ago, she was talking about rings with a friend.
I looked over her shoulder, checked her Pinterest, and saved the ones she liked,” he explained.
“I’ve had a folder on my phone for years of the rings she loved.
Then in New York, I went to a jeweller recommended by friends, and they created the perfect ring.”
For Steven, Melanie is more than just a partner—she’s his anchor.
“Mel helps me stay grounded. I’ve always worried that even with success, I could feel lonely in a big house.
Now, I look forward to building a family, having responsibilities, and depending on each other.
That’s part of being a good man and a good human being.”
