In a shocking turn of events, Denver Broncos coach Michael Wilhoite has been arrested after allegedly assaulting a police officer at Denver International Airport.
The former NFL player was reportedly Tasered and taken into custody on Sunday afternoon, just hours after the news broke.
This incident has quickly gained attention, with Wilhoite now facing serious legal consequences.
The Altercation at Denver International Airport
The situation unfolded when Wilhoite parked his vehicle in the drop-off lane at the airport and left it unattended.
Police say a uniformed officer approached him and informed him that he couldn’t leave the vehicle there.
However, Wilhoite reportedly responded aggressively, telling the officer to “shut the (expletive) up” and bumping his chest into the officer.
The officer then pushed Wilhoite back, which allegedly led to Wilhoite punching him in the face.
The officer fell to the ground, and Wilhoite reportedly returned to his car.
The Officer’s Response and Wilhoite’s Escape
In response to the attack, the officer used a Taser on Wilhoite, hitting him near his left hip.
The shock briefly stunned Wilhoite, but he was able to drive away from the scene.
Authorities report that the officer sustained injuries, including visible wounds to his knees and pain in his jaw.
Legal Trouble and Arrest
Wilhoite was arrested later that day, and a bond was set at $5,000.
His attorney anticipates that he will be released from jail on Monday.
As the investigation continues, the Denver Broncos have acknowledged the situation and stated that they are gathering more details.
