A former president of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo, has paid a condolence visit to the Oyo State Government over the demise of two prominent traditional rulers in the state, the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Jimoh Oyewunmi and the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji.
Obasanjo, who visited the Governor’s Office, Agodi Secretariat, Ibadan, on Thursday, also condoled with the families of the deceased, saying he could not come on such a visit without condoling with the chief mourner, the state Governor.
He said: “Seeing that you have lost two of your high traditional rulers, I took it upon myself to pay condolence visits to the families of the late Olubadan and the late Soun of Ogbomoso.
My prayer is that God will accept their souls into respite and eternal rest.
Once again, condolences.

Responding, the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, commended the humility of the former president and described him as a core Yoruba man who understands tradition.
Represented by Rauf Olaniyan, the Deputy Govenor, Makinde said ”Nigerians would continue to draw from his wealth of wisdom and experience.
He stated: “We are very grateful that even at your age and at your level you’ve come to Oyo State instead of just calling once and for all, we are very grateful, sir.
You mean so much to many people in different ways and we thank God for your life.
On behalf of the people of Oyo State, we say thank you and welcome to Oyo State.
Obasanjo was accompanied on the visit by a former Secretary to the Oyo State Government, Olayiwola Olakojo and a political associate, Oyewole Fasawe.
The former president was received by some of the members of the State Executive Council including the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs Olubamiwo Adeosun; the Head of Service, Alhaja Ololade Agboola; the Deputy Chief of Staff, Abdulmojeed Mogbanjubola; Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, Fatai Owoseni; the Executive Assistant to the Governor on Administration, Idowu Ogedengbe and the Commissioner for Investment and Establishment, Olasunkanmi Olaleye.
