Cristiano Ronaldo and Harry Maguire in power struggle over Manchester United captaincy

At the moment, Cristiano Ronaldo and Harry Maguire are said to be in a power struggle over the Manchester United captaincy.
According to The Mirror, the pair have discussed a change of captain for the remainder of the season with interim manager Ralf Rangnick.
The plan is for Ronaldo to be given the armband to relieve Maguire of his captaincy, but the England international is hesitant to agree since he does not want to lose it permanently.
According to the source, there is a growing sense in the dressing room that Ronaldo will take over as captain, despite Maguire’s troubles at center-back.
‘Originally, Ronaldo was asking players to support Harry,’ a source said.
But the problem is the manager now wants Ronaldo to mentor all these younger players.
‘That’s left Harry in no man’s land, as he’s the captain and having to say and follow whatever Ronaldo says, to keep everything sweet.’
Ronaldo has been mentoring the younger players as per Rangnick’s instructions since the German arrived in November.
But  Maguire is said to feel ‘marginalised’ by Ronaldo’s role in the dressing room.
