In a shocking turn of events, Martha Crouch, a 57-year-old woman from Colorado and mother of 15 children, has been arrested following the discovery of her husband’s lifeless body on their lawn.
The incident, which has garnered widespread attention, also revealed that Crouch was found hiding behind a fake wall in her trailer.
This disturbing development comes four years after Crouch was accused of child abuse and boiling puppies alive in front of her children.
The accusations against Martha Crouch and her husband, Timothy, were initially brought to light by their then-18-year-old daughter in 2019.
She described the family’s living conditions as a “house of horrors” that led to charges of child abuse, cruelty to animals, and obstruction of an investigation.
In 2021, Martha Crouch accepted a plea deal to plead no contest to a fourth-degree felony count of attempted child abuse in order to avoid jail time.
Shockingly, just two days later, she violated her probation sentence, resulting in a warrant for her arrest.
Fast forward nearly 20 months later, and Huerfano County sheriffs made a gruesome discovery after finding Timothy Crouch’s lifeless body in Walsenburg, Colorado.
It’s reported that Timothy had faced an obstruction charge during the initial accusations.
Additionally, one of the couple’s estranged children believed that some of their siblings, including those with special needs, were still living with their father and enduring abuse.
As authorities identified Martha Crouch and realized she was wanted for violating probation, they returned to the residence with a warrant.
An unexpected tip from one of the couple’s children led them to a fake wall in the kitchen, where they found Martha and a missing 14-year-old sister.
Crouch was arrested for her probation violation and slapped with new charges, including misdemeanor child abuse and obstructing deputies.
She is currently being held on a $5,000 cash bond, with her next court date yet to be determined.
The question of whether Crouch will be extradited to New Mexico to face the original warrant remains unanswered.
