What was supposed to be a standard Tuesday lunchtime chat turned into one of Loose Women’s most jaw-dropping moments—thanks to Coleen Nolan delivering a shockingly personal swipe at her co-star Janet Street-Porter.
The studio audience and panel were left completely stunned.
It All Started with a Breakup Chat
The conversation began innocently enough. The ladies were discussing how to tell someone you’ve fallen out of love.
Janet, 78, was quick to say she had no issue with breaking things off when needed.
In fact, she even shared a story about ending an engagement after meeting someone new.
Janet admitted she had never been dumped herself, to which Coleen, 60, sharply responded:
“You don’t know how it feels then, that’s why you can do it so easily—because you don’t know that feeling.”
Coleen’s Comment That Left Everyone Speechless
Janet offered her usual no-nonsense advice, telling viewers:
“If you think your relationship is going that way, get in there first.
Don’t get lost in the emotion. Just do it.”
But Coleen wasn’t done. She fired back with a comment that caused an audible gasp from both the panel and the audience:
“Maybe if you’d spoken a bit more and discussed a bit more, you wouldn’t have been onto your fourth marriage.”
The room went dead silent—except for the sound of jaws hitting the floor.
Her fellow panelists Katie Piper, 41, and Charlene White, 44, were visibly shocked.
Charlene, acting as the anchor, jumped in quickly to change the subject:
“I think it’s probably safe we end things there and move on to getting things married! Forget fine china, I could see where that was going—it’s the afternoon!”
Janet’s Relationship History Isn’t Exactly a Secret
To be fair, Janet has never shied away from talking about her romantic past on Loose Women.
She’s been married four times, but has been with entrepreneur Peter Spanton, 66, since 1999—though they’re not married.
Her first marriage was to Tim Street-Porter back in 1967 when she was just 19.
That marriage ended in 1975. Her second was to Tony Elliot, lasting from 1975 to 1977.
Then came Frank Cvitanovich in 1979, but that also ended two years later.
Her fourth and final marriage was to David Sorkin, between 1997 and 1999.
She’s Shared Racy Relationship Stories Before
This isn’t the first time Janet’s romantic life has sparked conversation on the show.
Just last September, she had the panel in stitches (and a bit of disbelief) when she shared a risqué story with Coleen, Ruth Langsford, and Brenda Edwards.
“There was another guy I was having an affair with,” Janet began, “and one day he thought I was going to go along with his fantasies.”
She went on to describe how things escalated in a hotel room: “Just as the butler served our drinks, he started taking out handcuffs and a whip. I’ve never been more embarrassed in my life.”
Janet admitted she got a little drunk and the evening took a tamer turn—but not before she had a little fun of her own:
“In the morning, while he was sleeping it off, I handcuffed his hands to the bed,” she quipped, with her signature cheeky grin.
