Magesi FC is gearing up for an exciting new season in the South African elite league, following their impressive promotion.
The team has made a strategic move by bringing in Papi Zothwane as one of the assistant coaches, working alongside head coach Clinton Larsen and Jackie Ledwaba.
Papi Zothwane is no stranger to the football scene, boasting extensive experience in both the Betway Premiership and South Africa’s second-tier leagues.
He has held coaching positions at clubs such as Polokwane City FC, Black Leopards, Dlangezwa Hellenic, and the now-defunct Uthongathi FC. His diverse background in coaching is expected to be a valuable asset to Magesi FC.
A Familiar Partnership
Larsen and Zothwane share a history from their days at Golden Arrows, where Zothwane served as the reserve side coach.
Larsen’s decision to bring Zothwane on board was influenced by this past experience and their shared understanding of football.
“I know Papi’s entire football journey from being a player to working with me.
He worked under me before, many may not know. He worked as one of the DDC coaches when I was still with Golden Arrows,” Larsen remarked.
Strengthening the Team’s Competitiveness
Larsen believes that Zothwane’s addition will not only enhance the team’s competitiveness but also bring fresh tactical insights. “I think it’s time for him to step up in the big league now.
I admire his coaching philosophy in terms of the way we want the team to play,” said Larsen.
He is looking forward to collaborating with Zothwane and benefiting from his perspective, stating, “I also can’t wait to pick his brain because I want thinkers around me and people who can also challenge me from a tactical perspective, and I totally believe Papi brings all that.”
This new coaching lineup promises an exciting future for Magesi FC as they prepare to make their mark in the top league.
