Clashes erupted between two groups during a religious procession in New Delhi on Saturday, hurting security officers and others, according to a top police official.

According to authorities, members of two tribes participated in violent attacks during a parade devoted to the Hindu monkey deity, Hanuman, in the national capital’s Jahangirpuri neighbourhood.

“Some police officers were also hurt as a result of this.” As of now, we are still on the ground, and our first goal is to preserve peace and order,” said Dependra Pathak, Special Commissioner of Delhi Police.

People at the attack site were heard shouting Hindu religious slogans as the police cordoned off the area.
Delhi Chief, Arvind Kejriwal condemned the clashes in a tweet and asked people to maintain peace.
