Chris Kamara Shares Encouraging Update on His Health Journey While Engaging with Fans at Camden Market in London

For many football fans, Chris Kamara has been a familiar and beloved figure on TV screens for decades.

Known for his infectious charisma and warmth, Kamara has faced a tough health battle since being diagnosed with a rare neurological condition in 2022.

Recently, he shared an upbeat update on how he’s managing, showing that despite some struggles, his spirit remains strong.

Opening Up About His Condition and Recent Struggles

The 67-year-old football pundit, whose real-life charm won him millions of fans during his 24 years with Sky Sports, admitted he’s been having some trouble with his balance lately.

This came to light just before he took part in a fun event at Camden Market in London, celebrating National Fish and Chips Day with Burton’s Fish ‘N’ Chips.

Talking to Mail Sport, Kamara was refreshingly honest about his health.

He said, “It may look worse than it actually is,” pointing out that although his balance has declined, his speech has actually improved a lot.

“My voice is better, and my thoughts come through instantly now,” he said.

Staying Positive Despite the Setbacks

Kamara’s positive attitude really shines through when he talks about how people have treated him.

“I’m always surprised at how lovely people are towards me,” he shared.

“It’s incredible, and it makes me feel humble.

There’s no downside to being me at the moment because everyone is so nice.”

He also acknowledged some ongoing issues, like his balance problems, thyroid trouble, and a bad back that might need surgery.

Yet, he kept things grounded, saying, “There’s always somebody worse off than you.

Don’t feel sorry for me, I’m still enjoying life.”

From Withdrawal to a Triumphant Return on Screen

Back in 2022, the condition forced Kamara to step back from his Sky Sports duties and limited his public appearances.

But in 2024, he made a triumphant comeback, covering Nottingham Forest’s win over Tottenham for Amazon Prime.

Since then, he’s been out and about, reconnecting with fans and embracing life.

His appearance at Camden Market, handing out biscuits and chatting with fans, marked a huge step forward.

“Two or three years ago, at the height of my condition, I wouldn’t have done anything like this,” Kamara said.

“My brain was all frazzled, and I was feeling sorry for myself. That’s all gone now.”

Embracing Life and New Opportunities

These days, Kamara’s focus is on enjoying life, spending time with family, and taking on new projects.

He even revealed some exciting new ventures in television beyond punditry.

“I’ve been offered a part in a film and a sitcom,” he told Mail Sport from a café in London.

“I’ve done loads of TV stuff before, like Ted Lasso and Emmerdale tours, but I’m not the same person now as I was then. If they invite me, I’m up for it.”

Humility and the Honor of an MBE

Despite all his fame and new roles, Kamara remains humble.

Meeting fans who share fond memories always touches him.

One moment that particularly humbled him was receiving his MBE from Prince William in 2022.

“It was so honouring when Prince William said he grew up watching me,” Kamara said.

“You don’t expect that – the next King in line grew up with you on TV. It’s humbling.”

Celebrating Nostalgia at Camden Market

Kamara’s recent event at Camden Market brought a wave of nostalgia, with the legendary Fish ‘N’ Chips taking center stage.

“I was out there on the streets, bringing that iconic snack back into the spotlight,” he said.

He described the atmosphere as “electric,” with smiling faces everywhere enjoying the tasters.

“It was the perfect way to celebrate National Fish and Chip Day. Proper magic,” Kamara added.
