Leading actor Shemar Moore also criticized the decision, calling it nonsensical.
In a surprising turn of events, the network has now announced that the show will return for a seventh and final season of 13 episodes, which will air during the 2023-2024 broadcast year.
The announcement came after the show’s creators responded to an outpouring of support from fans.
In a statement, CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach and Sony Pictures Television Studios President Katherine Pope praised the show’s devoted following and expressed their pleasure at finding a way to bring the show back for a final season.
They also expressed their appreciation for the cast, writers, producers, and crew who contributed to the show’s success.
