Kaizer Chiefs now have a glorious opportunity to come close to catching Mamelodi Sundowns and deliver an exciting DStv Premiership conclusion.

KAIZER CHIEFS WIN THE CASE

As The South African reported on Friday, Amakhosi have reportedly won the case against the Premier Soccer League. The Soweto giants were charged for failing to honour two league games in December 2021, this is after the squad and staff suffered a big COVID-19 outbreak.

It has now been reported that Kaizer Chiefs have won the arbitration. Stuart Baxter’s side will now replay the two games against Cape Town City and Golden Arrows respectively.

So what does this mean for the league title race and Sundowns? Well, it simply means a lot.

Sundowns are currently leading at the top with 16 points ahead of the third-place Amakhosi.

With Kaizer Chiefs now set to replay the two games, as well as a game in hand, winning all of the three games means nine points. This will leave Sundowns with just seven points ahead.

Additionally, Kabo Yellow still need to play Amakhosi in May, where a win for Chiefs would cut Sundowns’ lead to just four points!

Can Chiefs catch and surpass Sundowns to the 2021/22 league title? The next two months will tell.
